Dr. Whelan grew up in south Louisiana and obtained his BS degree in Biochemistry from LSU. He then went on to obtain his MSc in Physiology and MD degrees from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Maricopa Integrated Health System (now Valleywise Health) in Phoenix, AZ.
Since completing residency, he has worked as an independent contractor, a locum tenens and hospital employed Emergency Physician, a Medical Director, and a Department Chair of an Emergency Department throughout the COVID pandemic.
He is currently training as a Fellow of Anti-Aging, Metabolic and Functional Medicine through the A4M Advanced Fellowship Program.
Although Dr. Whelan will not provide you Primary Care services, he can provide you with recommendations and referrals for your existing medical conditions through his extensive network of colleagues in Arizona and Idaho.
